Bookmarklet

We launched a bookmarklet today that can be used to easily submit articles to VoteOften while surfing other web pages. You can get it here: http://voteoften.us/bookmarklet/. Follow the short directions on the page to quickly set it up.

Once you have it set up with your browser, all you need to do is click on the new bookmarklet in your browser's toolbar while viewing the page of an article that you would like to submit. You will instantly be taken to the VoteOften submit page with the title and URL fields already filled out so that you can quickly and easily submit the page.

Easily view all articles from one source

We launched a new page today, http://voteoften.us/all/[source_url_here]/.

This page allows you to view every article submitted to VoteOften from one source. For example, if you'd like to view all articles on VoteOften from the New York Times, you can navigate to http://voteoften.us/all/nytimes.com/.

All of the sorting mechanisms available throughout the site are available on these pages as well. This way, you can quickly see which articles have the most votes, most comments, etc. from a single source of your choosing.

To make these pages more easily accessible, the link in the submitted line of each article listing that went directly to the source's homepage (e.g. "submitted by [username] 1 hour ago, from nytimes.com") now navigates you to these pages.

New Feature: Comment Formatting

We're in the process of rolling out a few new features, and comment formatting is the first to go live. Lots of people have been asking for it, so here it is! Below is the syntax for formatting:

• To italicize a word or phrase, surround it with underscores. For example, _this is italic_ becomes this is italic.
• To bold a word or phrase, surround it with stars. For example, *this is bold* becomes this is bold.
• To make a hyperlink, just make sure you enter a fully-formatted URL, and it will automatically be converted. For example, http://voteoften.us becomes http://voteoften.us.

We'll also release the option to edit your comments very soon. Stay tuned for more updates and features!
